LOOKINSIDE
Another Point of View
Every 45 seconds, a diabetic foot is amputated in the world¹. It is in light of this statistic that we established our mission: to prevent unnecessary amputations.
Some amputations are necessary. These are professionally recommended procedures and practices that aim to provide continuity of life - it is the sacrifice of a limb to save the body. However, up to 75% of diabetic foot ulcers are preventable². We believe that there are amputations that did not need to happen. Something could have been done for this patient, and that would have changed his story.
An amputation is always the end of a story - dreams, plans, goals, objectives, independence, and even life itself. After the first amputation, the mortality rate of diabetic foot becomes equal to that of cancer, and probably one more diabetic foot has been amputated in the world. since when you started reading this text.
But what if we had another point of view?
This is the perspective that LOOKINSIDE has when we use artificial intelligence to screen at-risk feet.
